The Legends of the Rocking Dutchman - episode 76
Legends Mix
Today's mixed bag of tunes brings us a again some real enjoyable Rhythm & Blues. There's one artist that I pick out because he was one of the key persons in the making of Rock 'n Roll and the fifties New Orleans scene. But he did the work behind the scenes and for that he is much less known than the musicians that he brought their hits. Among them: Shirley & Lee, Lloyd Price, Smiley Lewis, Earl King, and most of all, Fats Domino. I'm talking about Dave Bartholomew, trumpeter, songwriter, talent scout and A&R man - and one of the few financially succesful Rhythm & Blues artists.
