The Legends of the Rocking Dutchman - episode 71

Legends Mix

Today some of the music that I played recently on a flight to and from Florida, on an old-fashioned mp3 player that just plays in sequence what's on it without giving options to select before what you want to hear. And so it's someway a surprise what'll be on next. Well I tried to get asleep but that's pointless with this exciting music on your head. Or funny - like how a singer wants to get his mama quit dipping snuff, or someone blaming Dr. Kinsey - of the reports on sexual behavior - for the unfaithfulness of his woman.

And with today's music come the usual unusual stories. So today you'll learn what's the difference between jazz on the bluesy side and blues on the jazzy side, hear about nostalgia and homesickness for Alabama, and a story on two very obscure blues ladies, and found a biography on one of them in the back alleys of the web on a jazz site from - of all places - Minsk, Belarus. You may wonder why that story ended up on a webserver so far from the New York where she - at least up to the day of publishing of the web page in 2006 - sang in a club every day.
