The Legends of the Rocking Dutchman - episode 54

80s Re-issue Albums

I have a whole amount of music still sitting on eighties re-issue albums - vinyl - that I still need to catalogue. Browsing through them always leaves for some great tunes for a show and today I bring you some of the highlights of that little collection. I did so before, and I will continue doing that every now and then, because I think it's great music on them.

Not so surprisingly given the country where I come from, most of these albums are European. I'll play from British, Swedish, Danish and German LPs. Most of them come with excellent liner notes - fortunately for me in English - that give me enough material to tell you the stories that as always come with the music. And today a special word about Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the great crossover artist even before the word existed, between Rhythm & Blues and Gospel. She is the singer of the only gospel that is on every shortlist of Rock 'n Roll defining music.
