The Legends of the Rocking Dutchman - episode 52
Legends Mix
Today's mixed bag of goodies start in the thirties with a great clarinettist and a duo that probably has been forgotten completely by now. Well, the clarinet was doomed to be the first wind instrument that we'd lose in the Rhythm & Blues and the duo had grown a bit old-fashioned already back then, but they have done a few nice blues at the end of the decade - including today's song devoted to the greatest jazz trumpeter ever - unfortunately without him.
Today I also clear out two pairs of names that are often mixed up - Etta Jones and Etta James, and Budd Johnson and Buddy Johnson. Together of course with great music, as always.
