The Legends of the Rocking Dutchman - episode 41
The Rhythm & Blues Chart
Number ones, 1951-1952
Today's show features the number ones on the Billboard Rhythm & Blues hit lists - best sold in retail and most played in juke boxes - for 1951 and a part of 1952. And 1951 that brought a few real classics, some still cherished among blues fans, others being recognised as groundbreaking in the making of rock 'n roll.
But the new year was opened with a lot of tears, with a blues with a loud sobbing dubbed over it, and a classic pop tear jerker, together sharing the number one spot of January 12 of 1951.
