The Legends of the Rocking Dutchman - episode 182

Legends Mix

Today's mix starts with a man who now is regarded as one of the greats of old-time jazz on the clarinet and the saxophone - but he got that reputation only when he had moved to France in the fifties. Before, he saw hard times to get along in the music business. Sindney Bechet is just one of the greats from New Orleans - today also a bluesman who sings about a street in the neighborhood in the Crescent City where he lived, named the Battlefield, by far the worst neighborhood in town these days. But it's also the street where Louis Armstrong was born.

There's more - like a wonderful song of the Big Three Trio. Enough reasons to tune in again.
