The Legends of the Rocking Dutchman - episode 145
Legends Mix
Today's show brings us the - among a lot more - the story of Lizzie 'Kid' Douglas, better known by the name of Memphis Minnie when a Columbia A&R man thought that would be a better selling name. Also one of the finest washboard bands of the thirties and some real obscurities on today's show, people who didn't make a trace in the history of Rhythm & Blues but that one recording, and some of them for sure wouldn't have made it in the auditions for the Voice of America, if they'd been aspiring singers today.
