The Legends of the Rocking Dutchman - episode 142
Legends Mix
Now every time I make an unthemed show, it turns out to have legendary highlights in it. That certainly counts for today. How about a highschool composition of the eccentric musical genius who later called himself Le Sony'r Ra - or in short Sun Ra? He went by the name of Sonny Blount then, a name that he later rejected as a slave's name.
Also a story how I just missed a CD of B.B. King signed by the legendary bluesman himself, one of the earliest recordings of blues and soul great Bobby Bland, two pupils of Johnny Otis whose drug addiction seriously hampered their musical career and drastically shortened their lives, then one of the roughest blues women of the thirties and I end in style with two great pieces of feelgood Depression swing.
