The Legends of the Rocking Dutchman - episode 131
Playing from re-issue albums
So every now and then I play from my collection of re-issue albums, all European pressings and most from the 80s, and an odd old-fashioned musicassette. The LP's are from Sweden, Denmark, Britain, Holland, France and Italy and fortunately most of them have their sleeve notes in English.
The quality of the notes, though, are quite different, varying from only some session data, or an editor spending a thousand words telling why Count Basie would be better than Duke Ellington, to others offering extensive interviews with the artists and they tell great, juicy stories from the first hand.
